The Day My Life Changed

January 27th, 2009 – The day I was officially diagnosed with my first cancer, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage 3b.

It is crazy that 8 years ago today my journey with cancer would begin and change my life forever. Some days it seems like forever ago, other days it seems like yesterday.

Within those 8 years I beat one cancer, finished high school, graduated college, began a career, and then beat another cancer. I changed in many ways, matured quicker than I wanted to, and experienced things some people do not experience in a lifetime. I felt pain, sadness, anger, and grief. But I also felt love, support, happiness, and laughter. I discovered strength and courage I never knew I had. I lost some people dear to my heart, but also met many amazing people along the way. I lost and gained, but I would not change it for the world, because it made me the person I am today. It has been quite a journey.

I had cancer, cancer never had me. 🙂
